Ahead of roster cutdown day, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded for quarterback Quinn Ewers in a deal with the Miami Dolphins.
So what was it about Ewers' game that led to GM James Gladstone getting this deal done?
"It didn't take long to reach an agreement," Gladstone said, via Jaguars on SI. "Ultimately, between myself and Liam pouring into some of the games Quinn had in his rookie campaign, felt good enough about the upward trajectory and really what he showcased over the course of those performances, and trying tap into that and continue to work with him and build with him into the future."
Ewers was a seventh-round pick out of Texas by the Dolphins in the 2025 NFL draft and earned the opportunity to start three games, while appearing in another.
Over his 98 dropbacks, Ewers was efficient, completing 66% of his 83 passes for 662 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
From Weeks 16-18, Ewers ranked 14th in completion rate and 13th in yards per pass attempt. However, he was also tied for 11th in turnover-worthy play rate and ninth in pressure-to-sack rate, according to PFF.
Ewers will back up Trevor Lawrence, although the Jaguars did bring Nick Mullens back on the practice squad.
