Now a week into training camp practices for theJacksonville Jaguars, what might a 53-man roster prediction look like?
With three preseason games, joint practices, and several weeks of training camp practices still remaining, a lot can change when it comes to what the roster looks like.
That said, given what we know in this moment, here is how I'm predicting the final roster to shake out.
Quarterbacks (2)
Trevor Lawrence, Nick Mullens
Mullens has continued to handle the backup reps, as expected. His experience is valuable to have.
Running back (3)
Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez, LeQuint Allen
These three will make up the Jaguars' running back room. Ameer Abdullah seems to be the fourth option at running back in practice.
Wide receiver (5)
Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, CJ Williams,
Josh Cameron
CJ Williams and Josh Cameron have already seemingly cemented their spots on this team. Both have had very good starts.
Tight end (4)
Brenton Strange, Nate Boerkircher, Tanner Koziol, Quintin Morris
Koziol seems to be ahead of Morris on the depth chart. I have Morris on the roster over Hunter Long because of his special teams contributions and ability as a blocker.
Offensive line (9)
Cole Van Lanen, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Anton Harrison, Walker Little, Wyatt Milum, Emmanuel Pregnon, Jonah Monheim
Van Lanen is still on the PUP list, which we will continue to monitor. Chuma Edoga is the odd man out here. Little can play both tackle spots off the bench, while Milum and Pregnon are backups at guard.
Defensive line (10)
Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker, Danny Striggow, BJ Green, Zach Durfee, Wesley Williams, Arik Armstead, Albert Regis, DaVon Hamilton, Ruke Orhorhoro
Striggow and Green seem to be next up in the DE rotation, while Durfee has continued to flash. I have only four defensive tackles. Can Matt Dickerson emerge to secure a roster spot?
Linebacker (6)
Ventrell Miller, Foye Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck, Jack Kiser, Branson Combs, Jalen McLeod
Kiser is currently injured, but is expected to return during training camp. I have McLeod on the roster over Parker Hughes and Yasir Abdullah because of his ability to rush the passer as well.
Cornerback (6)
Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Jarrian Jones, Christian Braswell, Jabbar Muhammad
Braswell has been sidelined to start training camp. Muhammad continues to perform well. Perhaps a name to watch is UDFA Preston Hodge.
Safety (5)
Antonio Johnson, Eric Murray, Caleb Ransaw, Jalen Huskey, Rayuan Lane
This position group seems to be pretty well set.
Special teams (3)
Logan Cooke, Ross Matiscik, Cam Little
No mystery here.
