During Liam Coen's first post-roster cutdown day press conference, he addressed the injury status of a few key members of this Jacksonville Jaguars team.
Here is what Coen had to say.
WR Brian Thomas Jr.
Thomas Jr. exited the team's first joint practice against the Bucs with a shoulder injury. He took part in individual drills the following day, wearing a non-contact jersey.
What Coen had to say: "BT was a full-go yesterday (Tuesday), no issues."
WR Jakobi Meyers
Meyers jammed his right hand and/or wrist during the joint practice with Carolina. He did not take part in the joint practices the following week with Tampa Bay.
What Coen had to say: "They'll be all good. Jakobi should be going today (Wednesday). He went yesterday and was just limited a little bit in terms of catching it."
OT Cole Van Lanen
Van Lanen was activated off the PUP list towards the end of training camp and has been taking part in the individual periods. Coen was asked if he'd be ready for Week 1.
What Coen had to say: "I don't know. I think if anybody can do it, it will be those guys because of the way that they attack their rehab, because of the way that they attack their process. I know Cole has looked good. I know he got some confidence. The preseason game the other night, he did one-on-ones against some of the defensive players and he felt really good doing that. I'm hopeful, you always want them to be able go but you also have to -- it's a long year, a lot of football to play and make sure that you're putting both the player and our team in the best position. I'm sure that both of those guys are probably going to be more like game time, like get up there. If Cole's ready and can go -- great -- if not, can he be active and can he be up as a potential guy to go in? Those are some of the things that we have to weigh."
RB LeQuint Allen
Allen sustained a soft tissue injury on Aug. 17. He did not practice the rest of training camp.
What Coen had to say: "I don't know. I think if anybody can do it, it will be those guys because of the way that they attack their rehab, because of the way that they attack their process. LeQuint, we definitely miss the presence, for sure. The physicality, the edge, the toughness. All that stuff. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he's ready to go. I know that this guy has attacked it. As you guys would probably imagine, just attacked it the right way. I'm sure that both of those guys are probably going to be more like game time, like get up there."
