With three training camp practices complete for the Jacksonville Jaguars, let's take a look at each positional battle taking place and predict the winner based on what we currently know.
The caveat, of course, is that there are still several weeks of practices and preseason games remaining that can change the current landscape. Also, how the coaches are evaluating these competitions behind the scenes could differ from how the outside world sees things.
That said, what the starting lineups look like in practice and which players are making regular plays provide us with some potential insights into where things stand.
Running back: Bhayshul Tuten
This competition hasn't really taken place with Chris Rodriguez still doing individual work, but Tuten has also capitalized on his opportunities.
Right guard: Patrick Mekari
For now, I'll defer to Mekari's experience, but as he takes limited practice reps early on, that's creating an opportunity for Wyatt Milum to get a lot of work with the starters, and he's performed well. Once the pads come on, we may have a better indication of where this battle stands, but it does seem to be heating up.
Tight end: Quintin Morris
Brenton Strange, Nate Boerkircher, and Tanner Koziol will account for three roster spots, leaving Morris and Hunter Long likely battling for one. Morris is the better blocker and was a core special teams contributor in 2025, which I expect will give him the edge.
Defensive end rotation: BJ Green, Danny Striggow
Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker will lead the way, but at defensive end, four players typically see regular playing time. Green, Striggow and the duo's experience over rookies Wesley Williams and Zach Durfee have been differentiators.
Linebacker: Ventrell Miller
Many of us assumed this was Miller's job, but Branson Combs is very much making a roster push. Both players have made plays, and this is a very real competition. But for now, I'll continue to predict that Miller wins this role.
