Oftentimes last season, penalties were an issue for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This year, however, the Jaguars have been among the least penalized teams in football.
Despite the Jaguars' overall success last season, Jacksonville was penalized7.2 times per game, the fourth-most in the NFL.
Through three games in 2026, the Jaguars are averaging just five penalties per game -- tied for the lowest mark this season. That, of course, has resulted in minimal penalty yards (121), with the Jaguars ranking third in that category as well.

Winning in the NFL is already a difficult task on a weekly basis, but being a heavily penalized team only makes that more challenging.
Penalties
erase big plays and put the offense behind the sticks in disadvantageous down-and-distance situations. Defensively, they can flip field position and extend drives for the opponent.
Playing cleaner games than their opponents gives the Jaguars an edge on game days.
