The Jacksonville Jaguars are kicking off Week 1 of the 2026 season with a game against the Cleveland Browns at home, before facing a difficult stretch of games to start the year.
This will be the 21st meeting between the two teams, with the Jaguars currently leading the series, 12-8. However, the series has trended in Cleveland's favor lately, with Jacksonville losing the last three meetings in a row.
The most recent game was in 2024, which the Browns won 18-13. The Jaguars' last victory over the Browns came in 2017, with a 19-7 win.
From 2013 to 2017, it was the Jaguars who held a three-game winning streak over Cleveland.
Last season, the Cleveland offense struggled, but the defense, and the pass rush in particular, excelled. Led by Myles Garrett,
the Browns had one of the most disruptive pass rush units in the league.
That was true in 2024 as well, with Garrett named Defensive Player of the Year. Trevor Lawrence struggled with the offense in Jacksonville's loss that year, despite a second-half rally that nearly turned into a comeback win.
This season, Cleveland will be playing without Garrett, and Lawrence is returning following the best season of his career.
