Parker Washington has quickly become a star receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and could be on his way to being among the best in the league. As he continues to emerge, comparisons are inevitably being made, but to head coach Liam Coen, Washington is one of a kind.
Coen was asked this week who Washington might compare to around the league, but Coen pushed back.
"To me, for me to comp Parker to anybody else I think is not fair to him, to be honest," he said. "I think Parker's one-of-a-kind, is who he is. He sees himself that way as well and so I would never want to demean him by saying otherwise."

Washington has certainly been building a strong case for that kind of praise. Through five games, Washington has caught 22 passes for 352 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 16 yards per reception.
He is coming off his biggest game of the season, with six receptions for 124 yards and two touchdowns in Jacksonville's 19-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. That performance included a 51-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown in the first quarter, and a one-handed 27-yard score on fourth down that gave Jacksonville the lead late in the fourth.
For now, Coen said the Jaguars' focus is on studying concepts from around the league and finding additional ways to put their own playmakers in position to succeed.
"You can always look around the league and that's what we do, right?" Coen said. "Whether it's in the offseason or throughout the course of a week in game planning, you're always looking at how can we continue to get our guys in the best position to be successful, especially guys that are making plays for you."
Washington unquestionably falls into that category. His role has steadily increased since Jacksonville selected him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. After recording just 132 receiving yards as a rookie, Washington climbed to 390 in 2024, and broke out with a team-leading 847 yards last season. And now, five games into 2026, he is clearly on pace to build on that breakout season and become the one-of-a-kind receiver Coen says he is.
