ESPN's Ben Solak is predicting that the Jaguars' Week 8 matchup against the Colts will be Brian Thomas Jr.'s last with Jacksonville.
Solak is also predicting that it will be Jonathan Taylor's last with Indianapolis.
"I'm predicting that both playmakers will take their final snaps with the teams that drafted them Sunday," Solak wrote. "With another loss, the Colts could probably move Taylor for two Day 2 picks. Meanwhile, another empty stat line for Thomas leads him to ... the Chiefs?"
This prediction comes with Thomas' role within the Jaguars' offense in question. Since the start of the season, his opportunities have been decreasing and bottomed out in Week 6 when he played only 15 offensive snaps.
Thomas also has only nine receptions this season,
including none over the Jaguars' last two games.
Since last year's trade deadline, trade speculation has surrounded Thomas, but the Jaguars have remained firm in that they won't trade him.
However, The Ringer's Tom Pelissero posted on X on Saturday that Thomas' "recent benching and ongoing struggles have ramped up belief within the league that Jacksonville will move him by the deadline."
On Monday, Coen reiterated his confidence in Thomas Jr., saying, "He's going to be able to help us make plays this week." That said, it remains to be seen where exactly Thomas Jr. fits in the current iteration of the Jacksonville offense.
