With the trade deadline near, will we see Jacksonville Jaguars' GM James Gladstone make an addition at defensive end?
Dating back to the offseason, the depth of this unit behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker has been in question. And through eight games, it remains a position where there is room for an upgrade.
Jacksonville currently ranks a modest 15th in pressure rate across the NFL and 20th in sacks. While the overall pass rush unit has been fine, there is room for more disruption, especially for a team that appears to be one of the top contenders in the AFC.
With the trade deadline approaching, we recently took a look at the Jaguars' salary cap situation and their 2027 draft capital, which will be important factors in determining if a deal
can be made.
With insight from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen, here are a few potential trade targets at the defensive end position.
Josh Sweat, Cardinals
What Bowen had to say: "A long, angular mover who can win with speed-to-power, Sweat had 12 sacks and 37 pressures in Arizona last season."
Yaya Diaby, Bucs
What Bowen had to say: "Diaby is a powerful and physical edge rusher with the temperament to set the edge against the run. He has three sacks and six tackles for loss in 2026, and he had 40 or more pressures in each of his past two seasons."
Jermaine Johnson, Titans
What Bowen had to say: "I don't see elite traits with Johnson, but he has the play strength and length to dent the pocket, and he will pick up second-reaction hits on the quarterback due to his effort level. Plus, Johnson will hammer the ball back inside when setting edges as a run defender."
