The Jacksonville Jaguars have their second joint practice of the summer on Wednesday, this time hosting the Carolina Panthers.
Joint practices have become very common around the NFL and are quite valuable, giving starters and key players game-like reps but in a more controlled environment.
As Wednesday's practice unfolds, here are three things we'll be watching for.
Can the pass rush depth continue to stand out?
More consistent pressure on the quarterback from the rotational members of the defensive end and defensive tackle positions is needed this season for the Jaguars. Whether or not that will happen is one of the bigger questions that this team faces.
That said, in the Jaguars' opening preseason game, the pass rush depth along the defensive front was quite disruptive. Ruke Orhorhoro, Wesley
Williams, BJ Green, and others all had disruptive days. Was that a sign of what's to come or a blip on the radar?
What does the starting offensive line configuration look like?
Injuries continue to take their toll on the Jaguars' offensive line. The team is currently without Cole Van Lanen, Chuma Edoga, Wyatt Milum, and Patrick Mekari.
One configuration we could see is Emmanuel Pregnon at left guard, Ezra Cleveland at right guard, and Walker Little at right tackle. If the Jaguars want to keep Cleveland at left guard, then Jonah Monheim taking over at right guard is an option as well.
The health and play of this unit is one of the big storylines right now. Consistent success for any offense begins with the play up front.
Where is Travis Hunter lining up?
For much of training camp, the majority of Hunter's reps have come on defense during each individual training camp practice. He has, however, seen regular opportunities on offense as well -- that is, until these last two days, where Hunter has played almost every snap at cornerback. Will that trend continue in the joint practice with Carolina?
