After Brian Thomas Jr.played just 23 offensive snaps in Jacksonville's Week 3 win over New England, the Jaguars' wideout had a few key plays in the team's latest win over the Bengals.
Thomas would play 38 snaps in Sunday's game, hauling in two passes for 17 yards, including a touchdown. However, not be overlooked, but Thomas also threw a key block on Chris Rodriguez's touchdown run.
While the touchdown was great, it was Thomas' blocking that really seemed to catch Liam Coen's attention.
"It was some really good stuff," Coen said of Thomas on Monday. "I showed it to the team just now. I showed multiple times, there was a critical 3rd-and-4 where C-Rod, we handed it off to him in the shotgun, where BT had a heck of a block. He was on the other side
but he took the nickel and drove him about 10 yards down the field and did a great job on C-Rod's touchdown. Caught the touchdown, caught an out-cut on the sideline. He did some really good things. Was really proud of the way he responded and continues to do so."
This performance from Thomas comes after what Coen acknowledged was a good week of practice leading up to the Cincinnati game.
Production-wise, it's been a modest start to the season for Thomas, who has nine receptions for 105 yards with one score. But continuing to make plays away from the football in the Coen offense will mean more snaps, and with more snaps can come more opportunities in the passing game.
To play wide receiver in this offense, doing some of the dirty work is a must.
"Each week you just don't know who it's going to be but when you go out and play like that," said Coen. "You go play physical, you go play fast like he did, good things will continue to happen."
