Injuries have forced the Jacksonville Jaguars to shake things up on the right side of the offensive line in training camp.
Walker Little has missed recent practices, so with Anton Harrison at left tackle, Wyatt Milum has slid over from guard to the right tackle position. Before Little was sidelined, Milum had been playing right guard.
"Wyatt's taking some huge steps. He looks great," said Trevor Lawrence. "Obviously, big physical guy, can move people. I think mentally he's getting it more and more every day. He's doing a good job with the offense."
With Milum at right tackle and Patrick Mekari still not taking part in team periods, the Jaguars have moved backup center Jonah Monheim to the starting right guard position for the time being.
Like Milum,
Monheim is entering his second NFL season and has made real strides since his rookie year.
"He's one of the smarter players I've been around, to be honest," added Lawrence. "And since the day he came in, he just gets it. Obviously, I think coming in as a center and playing center a lot when he first got here, he's learned the offense so well. Now, he's moving over to guard a little bit, and he's able to do everything just because center's got to know it all. So, I think that's helped him a lot."
Whether or not Milum and Monheim are starting at these positions come Week 1 remains to be seen -- the health of the offensive line unit and their level of play will ultimately determine that. But the ability to cross-train these two at different positions gives the Jaguars options in the event injuries occur during the season.
