More often than not, there always seems to be a roster cut that catches everyone off guard. For the 2026 Jacksonville Jaguars, who might those surprise roster cuts be?
Admittedly, with most roster spots accounted for, there may not be a true surprise move that happens.
That said, there are three relatively recent additions that GM James Gladstone has made over the last two years who could end up on the outside looking in.
LB Jalen McLeod
McLeod, a sixth-round pick by Jacksonville in 2025, missed his rookie season due to injury. And while he finished out training camp and the preseason strong, his overall play was up and down at times. In a crowded linebacker room, Yasir Abdullah and Jahlani Tavai's special teams experience could be differentiators for them.
OL Chuma Edoga
Edoga
provides versatility to the Jaguars' offensive line unit, able to play guard and tackle. However, the return of Cole Van Lanen, along with the recent trade for Daniel Faalele, has perhaps left Edoga on the outside looking in.
Wyatt Milum and Walker Little offer tackle depth, while Little, Faalele, Milum, and Jonah Monheim can all play guard. Keeping Edoga may require the Jaguars to go heavy and roster a 10th offensive tackle. Perhaps that's a roster spot the team would like to utilize elsewhere.
DE Zach Durfee
For the record, I do think Durfee makes the team. But the play of Bryan Thomas Jr. in the preseason does potentially complicate things for him. At a position group with five roster spots likely accounted for, that leaves just one spot for either Durfee or Thomas Jr. Will Gladstone prioritize Durfee's consistency or Thomas Jr.'s flashes?
