ESPN's Dan Graziano made some early NFL trade deadline predictions, one of which centered around the Jacksonville Jaguars and wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Based on the "buzz" that Graziano is hearing, he predicts that teams are going to attempt to pry Thomas Jr. away from Jacksonville. But whether or not they will succeed is a different story.
"I don't know whether they will succeed, because the Jaguars still acknowledge that Thomas offers something their other wide receivers don't from a talent and physical profile standpoint," Graziano wrote. "But the 2024 first-rounder isn't a big part of the Jaguars' offense right now."
Throughout the offseason, the Jaguars have made it clear that they have no intention of trading Thomas Jr. However, outside
speculation has resurfaced after Thomas was on the field for just 23 offensive snaps against New England -- the same amount as rookie Josh Cameron. Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers played 50 snaps each.
From a target standpoint, Thomas is still involved. While Washington leads the way with 22 targets, Thomas and Meyers are second on the team with 11, although seven of those targets came in one game for Thomas.
This offseason, there was an emphasis on Trevor Lawrence and Thomas Jr. building their rapport, particularly on downfield throws. That chemistry between the two seemed to be trending in the right direction during training camp.
Thomas' fit in the Liam Coen offense is yet to really take off. But there's also no need for the Jaguars to trade the wide receiver just for the sake of doing so.
