The Jacksonville Jaguars could not hold on to their second-half lead, losing to the Denver Broncos 20-13.
Looking back on Sunday's game, here are the studs and duds from the Jaguars' performance.
Stud: RB Bhayshul Tuten
Against a very good Broncos defensive front and with up-and-down offensive line play, Bhayshul Tuten had a productive day. On just 13 carries, he totaled 65 yards, averaging 5.0 yards per carry with a touchdown. Tuten's ability to make defenders miss is highly impressive.
Dud: Pass rush
It was a quiet performance for the Jaguars' pass rushers. The Jaguars didn't record any sacks in this game and mustered only three quarterback hits. Bo Nix was under pressure on just eight of his 32 dropbacks, according to PFF. This time in the pocket helped faciliate the big plays through
the air we saw the Broncos create.
Stud: Parker Washington
What's new? Another game, another impressive performance from Washington. He totaled seven receptions for 98 yards, averaging 14.0 yards per reception. Washington is a go-to target, extremely reliable, and can generate big plays for the offense.
Dud: Jaguars' secondary
There was good from the Jaguars' defense, but that was negated by too many explosive plays surrendered. Broncos' quarterback Bo Nix averaged 9.3 yards per pass attempt on Sunday. Nix had two completions of 27 yards, and another go for 49 yards.
Stud: Jaguars run defense
Once again, the Jaguars' run defense was quite stout. The Broncos' top two backs, Jonah Coleman and JK Dobbins, totaled a modest 75 rushing yards, averaging just 3.7 yards per rush. This put the Denver defense behind the sticks, but as mentioned, too many big plays through the air wiped away the play on the ground.
Dud: Pass protection
To Denver's credit, their defensive front is very good. That said, if the Jaguars want to make noise in the playoffs, these are the types of units that the offensive line will have to contend with. According to PFF's early tracking data, Lawrence was under duress on 35% of his dropbacks. Last week against Cleveland, he was pressured on just 24% of his dropbacks. He was sacked just twice, but hit seven times and pressured on 14 dropbacks, per PFF.
