Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington has earned plenty of praise as he continues to emerge as an elite player from across the league; now, he can add Tom Brady to the list of his fans.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion singled out Washington this week, saying the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver has gone well beyond being a feel-good story.
"Parker Washington, this guy's transformed from a fun story into an absolute dog. D-A-W-G," he said. "And everyone knows the sixth round, that's where you look when you need talent, right? Come get it."
Washington was selected by Jacksonville with the No. 185 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Brady famously entered the league the same way, falling to the New England Patriots
at No. 199 overall in the sixth round of the 2000 draft.
Washington has spent the past several seasons steadily outperforming his draft position. After recording just 132 receiving yards as a rookie, he climbed to 390 yards in 2024 before breaking out with a team-leading 847 yards and five touchdowns last season. He also became the first player in Jaguars history to return multiple punts for touchdowns in a single season.
That momentum has carried into 2026. Through five games, Washington has 22 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 16 yards per catch. His 85.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus ranks 10th among qualified NFL wide receivers.
Washington may have entered the league as a sixth-round pick expected to compete for a complementary role. But if anyone knows how little a sixth-round label can ultimately mean, it's Tom Brady. And accordingly, three seasons later, Parker Washington has become one of Trevor Lawrence's most trusted targets and one of Jacksonville's most productive offensive players.
