The Jacksonville Jaguars' first-team offense found success in a critical area during the team's joint practice with the New Orleans Saints -- the red zone.
Juston Lewis of the Florida Times-Union wrote that the Jaguars seemed to have a "really strong" showing in the red zone, scoring "multiple touchdowns."
Brent Martineau of Action Sports Jax posted on X as the practice unfolded that Jacksonville "dominated" the red area.
According to Martineau, this included Nick Mullens connecting with Travis Hunter for a touchdown. Trevor Lawrence also threw touchdown passes to Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Nate Boerkircher.
"This is a great thing for us, because you get exposure to game like scenarios and that’s momentum," Coen said after practice, via
Lewis. "That’s playing the next play and that was the biggest thing I applauded them for after the practice.”
The Jaguars' offense in Year 1 under Coen was quite successful in the red zone, ranking 10th in touchdown rate during the regular season. A more robust run game this year can help take Jacksonville's performance in the red area to another level.
It wasn't all perfect, however. It was a slow start to the practice for the Jacksonville offense, with that unit facing some "early adversity," as Lewis put it.
But overall, Coen was pleased with the "great work" put in by the offense and Jaguars' team as a whole.
