One Jacksonville Jaguars player seems to be moving from the roster bubble category to being a roster lock as training camp unfolds.
Following offseason programs, offensive lineman Chuma Edoga was potentially on the outside looking in when it came to the 53-man roster.
Unless the Jaguars were going to go heavy and keep 10 offensive linemen, nine roster spots were seemingly already accounted for at the start of training camp between Anton Harrison, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Cole Van Lanen, Walker Little, Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim, and Emmanuel Pregnon.
However, this unit has been hit very hard with injuries over the last few weeks. Van Lanen remains on the PUP list, while Mekari and Little are both sidelined. Pregnon briefly
missed time as well.
This has opened the door for Edoga to make a roster push. Not only has he seen opportunities with the starters, but his ability to play both guard and tackle positions is extremely valuable, especially as the Jaguars navigate injuries up front.
Offensive line depth is critical, and Edoga has shown he can provide that, giving his roster chances a big boost as of late.
