Sunday's Week 2 game in Denver was one that the Jacksonville Jaguars let get away from them.
Holding a 13-3 lead in the second half, the Broncos would end up scoring 17 unanswered points, eventually winning the game.
A number of self-inflicted mistakes contributed to the outcome, but the turning point in this contest may have come early in the third quarter on what still ended up being a scoring drive for the Jaguars.
Facing 1st-and-goal from the Broncos' three-yard line, following an impressive opening second-half drive, the Jaguars failed to find the end zone.
A Chris Rodriguez run went backward on first down. A pass to Bhayshul Tuten went nowhere on second down. And then a pass to LeQuint Allen that he should have caught fell incomplete. Had
Allen made the catch, Liam Coen said he was going for it.
But instead, the Jaguars settled for a field goal, with Coen saying afterward that a big opportunity slipped away.
"Settling for three on that first drive up out of the half was disappointing," Coen said, via Jaguars.com. "I thought it was a little bit of a missed opportunity at putting some pressure on them to potentially go up 17-3, and then maybe you apply a little bit more pressure, make them throw it a little bit more."
Denver would then respond with a field goal of their own, cutting the Jaguars' lead to seven. Trevor Lawrence would throw an interception on the following Jaguars drive, and the Broncos' offense would turn that into a game-tying touchdown drive.
The Jaguars' final two offensive possessions then ended in a missed field goal and a punt, with another Denver touchdown sandwiched in between.
