The Jacksonville Jaguars faced heavy criticism in the offseason for not signing a veteran edge rusher to provide more depth at that position.
However, when linebacker Foye Oluokun was asked about the pass rush unit following Friday's training camp practice, he expressed confidence in Jacksonville's young edge defenders, including B.J. Green II and rookie Zach Durfee.
"I mean, we got what we need at edge," Oluokun said. "I like the team that we have and those are my boys and we roll out with what we roll out with."
Oluokun specifically pointed out that Green and Durfee have proven they can contribute on defense on multiple fronts.
"I know what they can do," he said. "They can set the edge, so that's important in our defense. And then they have good
pass rush moves and coordinate the pass rush games with the rest of the defense."
Both Green and Durfee have garnered attention for strong performances during training camp, especially during Friday's practice.
Durfee, a seventh-round pick out of Washington, is competing for a role in the rotation behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker. Green is entering his second year, after signing with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) in 2025. And for his part, Oluokun said both have shown what they are capable of.
"I really like their competitive edge that they have to them," Oluokun said. "It's all about playing right in the scheme and I think they can all do that. So, no, we rely on them, play in, play out, to do what they're supposed to do."
