With Week 1 of the 2026 regular season here, contract extension talks between the Jacksonville Jaguars and wide receiver Parker Washington remain ongoing.
While speaking with local media on Wednesday, Washington said that he and the Jaguars are "still having that communication, that dialogue," according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com.
Over the weekend, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Washington would prefer to have a new deal in place before Week 1, while the Jaguars are comfortable continuing talks into the season if that is the direction things go.
Fowler added that a deal "does have a chance" of getting done before the season opener.
As the 2025 season progressed, Washington emerged as a go-to target for Lawrence. Including the postseason,
Washington eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark in three of the Jaguars' final four games.
In all four contests, he was targeted by Trevor Lawrence at least nine times. Washington is versatile, able to run a variety of routes, and he adds a YAC element to the offense.
"I have updates from my agent each and every day – and having great talks with my family," Washington said. "To me, my job is to come out here and stay ready to go, just do my job, be the best receiver I can be and make plays for the team. I'm just focused on me, being the best teammate I can be and having fun out here. If we get it done, that's cool. If not, I'm going to go out Sunday and leave my best out there."
