Everything was going right for the Jacksonville Jaguars in their win against the Indianapolis Colts. They went into halftime with a 28-0 lead and won the game 42-7 with touchdowns from five different players.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence finished the game with 210 passing yards for three touchdowns and did not play in the fourth quarter because Jacksonville had such a large lead. Running back Bhayshul Tuten had a career day with 104 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards and two total touchdowns.
Here is a look at the good, bad, and ugly from the Jaguars’ largest win of the season against the Colts:
The Good
Taking care of business: Jacksonville simply outplayed a spiraling Colts team. They were better in the passing game, better in the run game, and had a far
superior defense. With the Colts in rebuild mode and eyeing the future, the Jaguars did what any very good team should do in this situation -- dominate.
Bhayshul Tuten: For the second game in a row, Tuten has multiple touchdowns in a game. He finished this game with over 100 rushing yards for the first time this season. Tuten was also tied with tight end Brenton Strange for the most receiving yards of anyone on the Jaguars in this game. As the season has progressed, Tuten has emerged as a key part of this Jacksonville offense.
Defense: Everything about the Jaguars’ defense was good in this game. They had two interceptions, 4.5 sacks and held the Colts to just 243 yards. This was complete domination by Jacksonville throughout the entire game and perhaps their best defensive performance of the season so far.
The Bad
Penalties: All season, Jacksonville has continued to have problems with penalties. They finished this game with eight penalties for 65 penalty yards. The Jaguars have now been called for at least seven penalties in each of their last five games. As Jacksonville looks to make a deep playoff push, their penalties could become a problem if they do not stop having these self-inflicted wounds.
Pass protection: Against a not-very-good Colts' pass rush -- that is without DeForest Buckner -- Trevor Lawrence was under steady pressure. According to PFF, he was pressured on 40% of his dropbacks, was sacked three times, and hit four times.
The Ugly
The Jaguars won 42-7. While there are always things to clean up, there wasn't really anything ugly about this performance.
