In addition to Parker Washington's impact on the offensive side of the football, he's also left his mark on this Jacksonville Jaguars' team in the punt return game.
Last season, Washington ranked seventh in total punt return yards, 11th in average, and he was one of just five players to record two punt return touchdowns, according to PFF.
But will we see Washington returning punts in 2026? As his role on offense continues to expand, the Jaguars could opt to take him off the special teams unit.
However, while nothing is yet set in stone, Washington has told special teams coordinator Heath Farwell that he wants to continue filling that return role.
"That's something we talked about in the spring with Parker, and he expressed that he wants to return
as well," Farwell said. "He's a fantastic receiver, but he's an elite returner. He's a game changer. He's feared across the league. He's the best returner in the NFL as far as I'm concerned, and so I'm excited. When he says he wants to play, wants to be back there, help the team win, that's the culture that coach Liam has brought in and he's a part of it. he wants to win and how is he going to help us? Part of it is being a punt returner."
Farwell added that if the Jaguars do go in a different direction, Austin Trammell has punt return experience and has found success doing so. He also mentioned rookie wide receiver Josh Cameron.
The punt return game is just another way for Washington to leave his mark on a game. The positive returns can help flip the field position battle and create shorter fields for the offense to navigate.
