The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly reworked Josh Hines-Allen's contract to create additional salary cap room for the 2026 season.
According to Spotrac, the Jaguars completed a simple restructure of Hines-Allen's contract, converting $5.7 million of his 2026 salary into a signing bonus.
In short, this takes cap charges from the current year and pushes them to future years. The pro is that this maneuver creates cap space for the current year, but Hines-Allen's cap hits in 2027 and beyond will now increase.
The move, per Spotrac, has created an additional $4.56 million in 2026 cap space.
Josh Hines-Allen's salary cap hits moving forward
- 2026: $18.8M
- 2027: $41.29M
- 2028: $42M

Of note, there are void years tacked onto Hines-Allen's deal. These are effectively a bookkeeping measure, adding additional years to the contract on paper in 2029 and 2030 for cap charges to be pushed to, thus helping to keep the cap hits in 2026-2028 down.
This is not, however, an extension. Hines-Allen's current deal is set to terminate after the 2028 season. And if that happens, $14 million in cap charges will accelerate and come due on the 2029 salary cap, regardless of whether or not Hines-Allen is on the team.
