Heading into Week 1 of the regular season, what exactly Travis Hunter's workload will look like this year on the offensive side of the ball for the Jacksonville Jaguarsremains an unknown.
What's expected is that he will play a major role on defense, where the Jaguars are quite bullish on his ability to make a quick and significant impact.
When it comes to playing wide receiver, the Jaguars still intend to have Hunter play both ways, but his snap count on offense could really ebb and flow from one week to the next.
Coen doesn't feel like he must get Hunter a certain number of wide receiver reps each week. As he said, at the end of the day, it's about winning games.
"You're going to continue to try to get him in positions that he can do things that he's
good at," Coen said, via ESPN. "That's what we're trying to do. It doesn't always [mean Hunter is going to get the ball when he's in the game]. He's a damn good blocker. He can run routes in terms of maybe the ball's not schemed up to go to him. I'm not obviously having a count in my head with how many plays and what we're exactly going to do with him, but he definitely will play both."
The week-to-week matchups and in-game situations will likely dictate what Hunter's opportunities on offense look like in a given game.
The bulk of Hunter's 11-on-11 reps in training camp came on defense, which included almost playing solely on that side of the ball over the final week of practices.
Sunday against Cleveland will be Hunter's first game since Week 7 of last season.
