ESPN's Bill Barnwell put together his list of NFL figures facing the most pressure in 2026, and included was the Jacksonville Jaguars' Travis Hunter.
Unlike many on this list, Hunter isn't a coach or GM fighting to keep his job, and he's also not entering a contract year.
Instead, Hunter made this list with Barnwell believing that what happens in 2026 from a playing time standpoint will potentially impact his trajectory as a two-way player in 2027 and beyond.
"If Hunter can stay healthy and make an impact on both sides of the ball on a regular basis, his goal of being a two-way player should still be on track," wrote Barnwell. "If he gets hurt, or if the Jaguars aren't able to carve out a meaningful role on one side or the other for their most
interesting player, he might be something closer to a full-time wide receiver or (more likely) cornerback in 2027."
The expectation is that Hunter will see his share of snaps on defense this season, while what opportunities come his way on offense is still TBD.
With Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers, there aren't as many snaps available at wideout as there are at cornerback, where the assumption is that Hunter will play a big role.
What may end up happening at wide receiver is that weekly matchups and in-game situations could dictate how many reps Hunter sees on offense from one game to the next.
That said, James Gladstone and Liam Coen have made it crystal clear all offseason that Hunter will continue to play on both sides of the ball. Could the 2026 season alter that approach? Never say never, I suppose, but the Jaguars have not flinched when it comes to Hunter being a two-way player in the NFL.
