Second-year defender BJ Green's presence helps up the level of competitiveness throughout the Jacksonville Jaguars' defensive end unit.
And often on Green's radar is star pass rusher Josh Hines-Allen.
"I'll wake up and I walk into the building and he'll be the first thing, 'I'm going to be better than you today,' Hines-Allen said after Thursday's practice. "And I love that. After every practice, every play, 'Josh, you see that? You see that? I beat you right here, I got you right here, you probably got me right here.' So it's a lot of competition flying around with me and him."

Green signed with the Jaguars following the 2025 NFL draft
as an undrafted free agent. He would go on to make the team's initial 53-man roster, primarily filling a special-teams-heavy role early in the year. Green would end up appearing in 14 games, playing 198 special teams snaps across four of the six different phases.
But as the season progressed, Green began to see more regular opportunities on defense as well. From Weeks 12-18, he played at least 13 snaps in six of those final seven games, recording seven pressures, two sacks, and seven total tackles.
This season, Green, along with Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, and Zach Durfee, are all competing for the rotational defensive end snaps behind Hines-Allen and Travon Walker.
"He's a true professional," Hines-Allen added. "He's working on the things that he needs to work on and he's taken heed to it and they're all progressing."
