Jacksonville Jaguars' GM James Gladstone provided a promising injury update on offensive lineman Patrick Mekari.
On Aug. 17, it was reported that Mekari underwent back surgery and that he would "miss some time."
Now, exactly how much time he would miss was not known, but Gladstone provided some insight on Tuesday.
During the roster cutdown period, the Jaguars placed Mekari on injured reserve with a designation to return. At a minimum, Mekari must miss four games.
From the sounds of it, Mekari could potentially return around that point.
"I think he'd be quickly thereafter the threshold for return to get in," Gladstone said, via Jaguars on SI.
If Mekari is able to practice in Week 5 or Week 6, that may not mean he's on the field right away. A ramp-up
period will likely be required before he's back playing on Sundays.
That said, potentially getting Mekari back in the first half of the season is certainly good news for the Jaguars.
Without Mekari on the field, Ezra Cleveland was lining up at right guard during that final week of practice.
