The Jacksonville Jaguars open up the preseason on the road against the New Orleans Saints this coming Saturday. So will we see any of the starters in that contest?
"No. Not in Week 1, for sure,"Liam Coen said after Tuesday's practice.
The Jaguars and Saints will hold a joint practice on Thursday, which likely factors into Coen's decision to not play his starters.
These practice sessions provide key players with game-like reps and different looks, but take place in a somewhat controlled environment.
This year, unlike last, the Jaguars also aren't implementing new offensive and defensive schemes, so the need to bank in-game reps isn't as significant as it might have been in 2025.
Coen's answer, however, did leave the door open for the Jaguars starters
to play at some point this preseason -- we will have to wait and see on that one.
