The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly turned down two "significant" trade offers for wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. at last year's trade deadline, according to The Athletic's Jeff Howe.
After a slow start for Thomas to the 2025 season, reports began surfacing around the trade deadline that the Jaguars were shopping the second-year wideout. That speculation then continued into the regular season.
With reports and rumors swirling, Liam Coen immediately called Thomas to let him know that none of what he was hearing was true.
"It was just important to let him know we’re all in this thing together, and this is not coming from us,” Coen told The Athletic recently.
After totaling nearly 1,300 yards as a rookie, Thomas barely surpassed 700 yards in Year 2.
In part, he dealt with injuries, but dropped passes and inconsistent play were contributors to that production dip as well.
This offseason has been different, however. Thomas has been healthy, and his rapport with quarterback Trevor Lawrence has continued to grow, as he's often been one of the Jaguars' standout performers in practice.
Where Thomas has really made his mark is on the deep ball, but he has the speed and route-running abilities to impact other levels of the field as well.
In the Coen offense, where there may not be a true WR1, with weekly matchups dictating where the ball goes, it remains to be seen whether or not Thomas can return to the 1,300-yard receiving mark. That said. he still has the ability to make a major impact.
Along with the explosive downfield plays he can generate, the attention that Thomas' speed will garner can help open up opportunities for others in the passing game.
