The Jacksonville Jaguars have made another addition at linebacker, signing Amari Burney. To make room on the roster, the team also waived cornerback Keni-H Lovely.
Burney is one of a few linebacker signings made by the Jaguars since training camp began. Jacksonville recently signed Jahalni Tavai, with Jack Kiser sidelined and Jared Bartlett -- another camp addition -- being wavied/injured.
What to know about new Jaguars LB Amari Burney
Burney, 26, was a sixth-round pick by Las Vegas in the 2023 NFL draft. He appeared in seven games as a rookie and then in 17 gamesduring the 2024 season. He did not see the field in 2025 after spending part of that offseason with Tennessee.
He has played a modest 190 defensive snaps over his career, but has been a core special teams contributor, which includes
playing 383 snaps across five of the six different phases during the 2024 season.
With the preseason near and not knowing what playing time in those games will look like for the Jaguars' starters, the addition of Burney provides added depth, especially on special teams.
Lovely spent the 2025 season on the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad.
