The assumption has been that Travis Hunter will see a lot more opportunities on defense this season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And according to SI's Albert Breer, the Jaguars have high expectations for Hunter at the cornerback position. When highlighting Hunter in a recent article, Breer wrote that the Jaguars "believe (he) can become a shutdown corner."
Cameron Wolfe echoed similar sentiments in a report from early in the summer.
Hunter brings impressive ball skills and instincts to the cornerback position, bringing more playmaking potential to the cornerback position for the Jaguars.
During training camp, the bulk of his snaps came at cornerback. This includes nearly every one of Hunter's 11-on-11 snaps over the final week-plus of practices
coming on defense, with the Jaguars likely preparing him for his Week 1 workload.
That said, the Jaguars still plan to have Hunter playing wide receiver, although those opportunities could vary from week to week with in-game situations and matchups dictating how many snaps he sees on offense.
Given the makeup of the cornerback and wide receiver depth charts, Hunter can make a greater impact on defense, especially if he reaches the ceiling that the Jaguars believe he is capable of.
