What is the story about?
Training
camp is quickly approaching for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team will hold its first practice on July 28, and with that, there is always a lot to keep our eyes on during this time of the year.
Positional battles for playing time, roster spots, and pecking order on the depth chart take center stage, but the established starters being able to hit the ground running can be important to early-season success.
Starting with the Jaguars' offense, here is what we'll be keeping an eye on at each position group over the next month-plus of action.
Quarterbacks
- Trevor Lawrence and the deep ball. Continuing to push the ball downfieldis an area of emphasis for Lawrence and the Jaguars' offense this offseason.
- Carter Bradley vs. Joey Aguilar. These two are competing for the QB3 role on the depth chart. This player will likely be on the practice squad.
Running backs
- Bhayshul Tuten put together a strong showing this spring, and there are high expectations for him in Year 2.
- Training camp will give us our first glimpse of Chris Rodriguez, who, last season, was very good at making defenders miss.
- Do the Jaguars keep a fourth running back as they did for much of last year? And if so, J'Mari Taylor is a name to watch.
Wide receivers
- We know Travis Hunter will see a lot of snaps at cornerback once healthy, but what does his workload at wide receiver look like?
- Brian Thomas Jr. was a standout performer during OTAs and minicamp. Can he build upon that momentum?
Tight ends
- How big of a role does Nate Boerkircher have right away, and does his presence impact how the Jaguars utilize Brenton Strange?
- Will we see an uptick in two and three tigh end sets?
- Is Hunter Long the odd man out at tight end?
Offensive line
- When will Cole Van Lanen return to practice?
- Can Wyatt Milum push Patrick Mekari for playing time at right guard?
- Like Long, is Chuma Edoga in danger of losing his roster spot?
- In order for the Jaguars offense to reach a new level in 2026, an improved run game is needed. Do we see early signs from the offensive line that there will be more consistency this season?
