A priority for Trevor Lawrence heading into the Jacksonville Jaguars' Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots is finding more opportunities to get Jakobi Meyers the ball.
Through two games, Meyers has been targeted just three times. Parker Washington leads the team with 18 targets, followed by Brian Thomas Jr. with 10, Brenton Strange with five, and then Bhayshul Tuten and Meyers with three.
Although Meyers opportunities have been limited, he's made the most of them, catching all three of those passes for 68 yards with a touchdown.
“Definitely gotta give him more opportunities," Lawrence said on Wednesday, via Action Sports Jax. "He can do a lot, he’s a really great route runner, gets open, understands things, he knows what we’re doing schematically,
I trust him… I think that is definitely something that’s important for us as an offense.”

Finding more ways to get Meyers the ball goes beyond just filling up his column on the stat sheet. Meyers' willingness to attack the middle and intermediate parts of the field is an important element to have in the Liam Coen offense.
When Meyers is making plays there, that not only leads to production, but it can open up opportunities in the passing game for others in the Jaguars' offense.
Not to be overlooked either is his reliability in the passing game. Getting him some extra targets, particularly in key down-and-distances, could help extend drives as well.
Against a very good New England secondary, we will see if the Jaguars make a more concerted effort this week to get Meyers involved.
