TheJacksonville Jaguars are tasked with preparing for Marvin Harrison Jr. in a Houston Texans uniform on the fly this week.
Following the conclusion of last Sunday's Texans vs. Titans game, Houston officially completed the trade with Arizona for Harrison Jr. This week's game against Jacksonville will be Harrison Jr.'s first as a member of the Texans.
To prepare for this addition to the Houston offense, the Jaguars are studying how Harrison was utilized with the Cardinals, what he does well, and how that skill set may mesh with the Texans' offensive scheme.
"We showed some of Marvin's clips today in terms of what he's been able to do in Arizona, maybe some areas of the field they may try to use him," Liam Coen said on Wednesday. "I mean, it's probably
going to be hard to get him into a full game plan, but shoot, we did it with Jakobi last year, and I know Marvin is smart and he works hard."
In two-plus seasons with the Cardinals, Harrison Jr., a former fourth overall pick, has caught 108 passes for 1,578 yards with 13 touchdowns.
Harrison Jr. reunites with CJ Stroud, who was his college quarterback at Ohio State during the 2022 season. That year, Harrison Jr. caught 77 passes for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.
"I would imagine that he's going to be a part of their game plan, and CJ (Stroud) and he have a lot of chemistry and history together. So there's some unknown to truly how they'll use him, but their system, they kind of run what they do, and they put guys in positions to make plays, and I think Marvin will probably be no different in that way."
The Texans' offense will enter Sunday's matchup ranked 19th in scoring and 12th in yards per pass attempt.
