While it is only still the early returns portion of the season, it appears that this "Iowa State Nittany Lions" thing is not working. Matt Campbell, hired as the new Penn State head man late in the coaching carousel, because he was far from the school's first choice, brought a lot of this players from Iowa State along with him.
Among the group of former Cyclones is starting quarterback Rocco Becht, who has a middle round/day three NFL Draft projection. Becht is the classic "solid, if not spectacular" kind of prospect, but for the 2027 QB class, it's more than enough.
The Wesley Chapel, FL native had a rough night at Northwestern though, for the much anticipated opening night of the Wildcats' new stadium.
There was a ton of hype and anticipation
surrounding this moment, and Northwestern met their moment. PSU did not, and that starts with Becht, who tossed one touchdown pass and two interceptions, after entering the game with a 9 TD to 1 INT ratio.
Becht had a pretty off night, but credit the Northwestern defense for pressuring him all night. And Becht is down, but not out.

Asked by the media about what he could improve upon, Becht responded with a very long list. He'll get to work on it, strive to improve, and then when all is said and done, could find himself improving his draft stock.
