Pelicans at Jazz picks and predictions
Prediction
Pelicans 124, Jazz 117
Moneyline
The PELICANS (+102) are a solid play as short dogs in Salt Lake City, mostly based on their dominance in this series. In addition, New Orleans suffered a narrow loss to a decent Indiana team in the opener, while a Memphis team, projected to be subpar, boat-raced Utah in its opener. New Orleans looks a lot more capable of winning games than Utah does.
Against the spread
There is no reason to take New Orleans +1.5 (-106), paying up for a single point of insurance. If you like the underdog, always take the moneyline if the line is +2.5 or fewer points.
AVOID.
Over/Under
BET OVER 239.5 (-114), even though it is a big number.
In this series, the Over has dominated, cashing in 6 of the past 7 meetings. And, while that's with different personnel, etc., and that's a valid point, we don't have a lot of data to go off from this season so far. New Orleans did score 120 points in its loss, while allowing 123 points.
For Utah, while it struggled on the offensive end, it coughed up 123 points in its loss, so there is plenty of room for New Orleans to roll up big points.
Best prop bet
Bet Pelicans C YVES MISSI - OVER 7.5 POINTS (-118).
Missi surprised with 13 points and 14 rebounds in the opener. Was that an aberration, or is that something to expect on the regular? Even if he takes a bit of a step back, it won't take much to get to 8 points against a Utah team without much of a defense.
