Trail Blazers at Kings picks and predictions
Prediction
Trail Blazers 122, Kings 108
Moneyline
It is the Kings' home opener, but you can't ignore how both teams looked in their openers. The Kings never led in their game, and the Blazers never trailed. They led by as many as 52 points over the Suns Wednesday.
Should you expect similar domination from start to finish, especially over a team who performed similarly as the Suns? You shouldn't, but the Blazers clearly have more firepower offensively with Avdija in the frontcourt and Lillard and Ja Morant in the backcourt.
Expect a Blazers win, but there is much more value betting the spread than the Portland ML.
PASS.
Against the spread
While the Blazers were 4-0 against the Kings last season, they went 2-2 ATS. Only 1 of their wins was by double digits. They were 8-9 ATS last season as away favorites. That makes them roughly a tossup, while the Kings were 14-19 ATS as home underdogs, a slightly better trend to follow.
That said, with a 1-game sample for both teams, this should be a double-digit win for the Blazers.
BET TRAIL BLAZERS -10.5 (-105).
Over/Under
This one is tougher. The Blazers scored over 100 points. They held the Suns to only 83, and the Kings only scored 96 points in their season-opening loss. The Under for both teams' first game cashed. The Under and Over split the 4 games between the teams last season.
But we need to see Sacramento do better offensively before we expect this to be a high-scoring affair.
BET UNDER 232.5 (-105).
Best prop bet
Blazers G DAMIAN LILLARD OVER 3.5 3-POINTERS MADE (+130).
Lillard made 6 in the Blazers' first game of the season. Two seasons ago, he had 26 games with at least 4 3-pointers made out of 58 games. That is enough to like the chances, especially with good plus odds.
