The 76ers and Knicks have had their names in headlines throughout the basketball world since these teams met in the postseason last year.
Philadelphia was swept by New York in the Eastern Conference semifinals after finishing the regular season with a 45-37 record. With a desire to change their playoff fortunes, the 76ers won the latest sweepstakes to sign 4-time MVP LeBron James. The Sixers
weren't done there. Philadelphia is doing their best "superteam" construction by adding F Jaylen Brown as well, creating a core with G Tyrese Maxey and C Joel Embiid.
The Knicks will begin their upcoming season by raising a banner to the rafters at MSG for the first time in more than 50 years after winning last year's NBA title. Much of that same core that won that championship is returning to New York including G Jalen Brunson, G Mikal Bridges, F OG Anuoby and C Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks' lone offseason departure was C Mitchell Robinson as New York brought in Andre Drummond to help fill those shoes. New York finished the regular season 53-29 a year ago.
