The Edmonton Oilers (0-0-1) and the Vancouver Canucks (1-0-0) meet Thursday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let's analyze NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Canucks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Season series: Canucks lead 1-0
The Canucks surprised the Oilers 6-5 in overtime Tuesday as heavy underdogs (+245) as the Over (6.5) cashed in a wild back-and-forth affair in Edmonton in the opening game. The Oilers outshot the Canucks (37-23), while dishing out 38 hits, to just 13 for the Canucks. The Oilers won 60% of the faceoffs, too, while going 1 for 4 on the power play, while the Canucks were 1 for 2 on the man advantage. Vancouver also had a shorthanded goal from LW Paul
Cotter to open the scoring, while he also had the overtime winner.
Oilers D Evan Bouchard did his best to see things through for the home side, as he netted 3 goals with 2 assists, a plus-2 rating and 6 shots on goal (SOG), while blocking 3 shots and doling out a hit in 25:41 of ice time (TOI). RW Vasily Podkolzin chipped in with 2 goals, too. G Tristan Jarry was horrible, stopping just 17 of 23 shots in the OTL.

Oilers at Canucks projected goalies
Devon Levi (2-7-0, 4.12 GAA, .872 SV% in 2025-26 regular season) vs. Kevin Lankinen (1-0-0, 4.84 GAA, .865 SV%)
Levi is likely to make the start in the second end of the home-and-home set, as Jarry wasn't it on Tuesday. The last time Levi faced the Canucks was March 19, 2024, in Vancouver, as he stopped 31 of 33 shots in a 3-2 loss as a member of the Buffalo Sabres.
Lankinen kicked aside 32 of 37 shots in Tuesday's OTW, and he is expected to start again. He has allowed 5 or more goals in 3 straight starts against Edmonton.
Oilers at Canucks picks and predictions
Prediction
Oilers 4, Canucks 3
Moneyline
The way things started Tuesday night in Edmonton, you cannot back the Oilers (-225) on the road, as that costs you way more than 2 times your potential return. If anything, it's worth rolling the dice on the Canucks (+184) for the chance to nearly double up.
PASS.
Puck line/Against the spread
The CANUCKS +1.5 (-132) aren't priced out of line, if you want a little insurance and can't pick Vancouver straight up. The Canucks were the worst team in the NHL last season, and one stunning result to open this season shouldn't really change the opinion of the Canucks. This is still not a great hockey team.
Over/Under
OVER -6.5 (-115) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.
These teams combined for 11 goals in a game featuring a lot of fire-wagon hockey. The teams each had a power-play goal, and Vancouver has a shorty, too. There are no strong goaltenders on either side, and we should see another high-scoring battle.
Best prop bet
Oilers D EVAN BOUCHARD - ANYTIME GOAL SCORER (+370) is worth a look for the chance to more than triple up. He had a hat trick in the opener, as he saw something he could exploit with Lankinen. He is worth taking a flyer on in this rematch, as the value is just too great.
