The Washington Commanders (1-3-1) and San Francisco 49ers (5-0) square off on Monday Night Football at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN / ABC). Let's analyze NFL odds around the Commanders at 49ers odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
The Commanders had to settle for a 27-27 (Over 41) tie with the visiting New York Giants (+3.5) as poor clock management cost Washington a chance to kick a game-winning FG in OT last Sunday. At the Giants 24 with 12 seconds left and no timeouts, the Commanders ran another play, with QB Jayden Daniels scrambling for no gain and time expiring before Washington could clock it and bring on the FG unit. Up to that point, Daniels, back
in the lineup after missing 2 games with an left elbow injury, had been having a productive afternoon, completing 17 of 25 passes for 199 yards and rushing for 103 yards and 2 TDs. Giants QB Jameis Winston completed 33 of 54 passes for 326 yards and 3 TDs.
The 49ers (+2.5) sacked Seahawks QB Sam Darnold 5 times, forced 4 turnovers and escaped Seattle with a 32-29 (Over 47) victory last Sunday. It was a sloppy day for both teams as San Francisco committed 3 turnovers of their own and neither team reached 300 yards of total offense with the 49ers outgaining the Seahawks 269 yards to 251. San Francisco QB Brock Purdy completed 19 of 29 passes for 189 yards with 2 TDs and an INT, while WR Mike Evans had a big day with 7 catches for 113 yards and TD. RB Christian McCaffrey had 68 yards and 1 TD on 11 carries.
The 49ers lead the all-time series vs. the Commanders 23-12-1 and have won 3 of the last 4 and 7 of the last 9 meetings. The visiting 49ers crushed the Commanders 27-10 in their last meeting in 2023. Purdy completed 22 of 28 passes for 230 yards and 2 TDs in the victory.

Commanders at 49ers picks and predictions
Prediction
49ers 27, Commanders 17
Moneyline
PASS.
The Commanders defense is terrible, allowing 255 passing yards per game, 29th in the league, and giving up an average of 29.8 points per game (PPG), 30th in the league. That's not exactly a recipe for upsetting the 49ers as a road underdog.
Against the spread
BET 49ERS -7.5 (-105).
Both teams have beaten the Seahawks this season as the Commanders handed them their first loss of the season, 33-31 at home Sept. 27. Darnold lit Washington up for 379 and 4 TDs, but tossed 2 costly INTs, including a pick 6.
Statistically, San Francisco isn't exceptional in any one specific area, they're just solid across the board. Purdy can win games with his arm, McCaffrey is dangerous as a runner and receiver, and they can lean on their defense when needed. However, they are dealing with significant injuries in their receiving corps. Samuel has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Evans has been dealing with a rib injury and Achilles soreness and sat out practice all week. Eventually these injuries will cost them a game, but I don't think it will be Monday night.
The Commanders will be without their top RB, Croskey-Merritt, who had his best game of the season last Sunday vs. the Giants, rushing for 82 yards and a TD on 11 carries. But he missed most of the second half after re-aggravating a groin injury. The Commanders are expected to turn to Rachaad White and Austin Ekeler in his absence, but they have been dealing with injuries of their own; White a shoulder and Ekeler a chest issue, though neither ended up on the latest injury report.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 52 (-110).
Averaging 30.8 PPG, I still expect the 49ers, despite their injuries, to move the ball on this Commanders defense. It's more a matter of what the Commanders can do against the 49ers defense. The 49ers have the third best scoring defense in the league at 18.6 PPG, while the Commanders are averaging 23 a game. My bet is on the Commanders to struggle to generate much offense this week to keep the total Under.
Best prop bet
Bet 49ers RB CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY OVER 125+ RUSHING/RECEIVING YARDS (+165).
This is a number McCaffrey surpassed 9 times last season, but hasn't come close to approaching in a relatively quiet start to this season. With the injury issues the 49ers are dealing with on offense, this is a perfect opportunity for McCaffrey to break out and have the kind of game fans have come to expect.
