Rockets at Hawks picks and predictions
Prediction
Rockets 116, Hawks 113
Moneyline
BET ROCKETS (-105).
The Rockets are off to a hot start and look like one of the Western Conference's best teams, with a marquee win over one of the premier teams in the league, San Antonio, on Friday. They have elite scoring in F Kevin Durant and have size all over the court, enough to make life tough on Atlanta, who starts just one player over 6-foot-8.
While Atlanta is 2-0 and grades well on most metrics, it has yet to play a contender, having beaten the Hornets by 47 points and Magic by 7 -- both of whom are fringe playoff teams. The Hawks will get their first real challenge Saturday and expect them to struggle.
Against the spread
PASS.
Avoid this play. The spread and moneyline are similar, and the above is the preferred route over taking or giving the points.
Over/Under
BET OVER 227.5 (-110).
Both teams have scored at will early on in the season. The Rockets have tallied 121 points per game, going 1-1 O/U as they've allowed exactly 110 points in each outing. The Hawks, who second in the league in true shooting percentage and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio, are averaging 130 points per game and haven't shown signs of slowing down their torrid pace. They're only 1-1 O/U, mainly because the Hornets couldn't put up more than 81 points Friday.
With each offense loaded with scoring talent, back OVER 227.5 (-110).
