The New York Jets and Tennessee Titans open the regular season Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Let's analyze NFL odds around the Jets vs. Titans odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
To say Aaron Glenn's first season as coach of the Jets was a disaster would be an understatement. They started the season on a 7-game losing streak and ended the season on a 5-game losing streak. They ranked 29th in scoring (17.6 points per game), 29th in total offense (263.6 ypg), 25th in yards allowed (355.6 ypg) and 31st in points allowed (29.6 ppg). The defense forced only 4 turnovers all season and became the first team in NFL history to finish the season without an interception.
There was one bright spot -- the ground game, which ranked 10th in the NFL at 123.3 ypg behind RB Breece Hall (243 carries, 1,065 yards, 4 TDs). The Jets are leaning on 35-year-old veteran QB Geno Smith to help stabilize the passing attack, though he didn't exactly help the Las Vegas Raiders in that department last year when he threw for 3,025 yards, 19 TDs and a league-high 17 INTs. The defense has nowhere to go but up, and to that end they brought in a new defensive coordinator (Brian Duker) and added veteran S Minkah Fitzpatrick, LB Demario Davis, DT T'Vondre Sweat and chose DE David Bailey (Texas Tech) with their first pick (second overall) in the 2026 NFL Draft.
A team that had a worse offense than the Jets in 2025? That would be the Titans, who ranked 31st in total offense (259.6 ypg) and 30th in points scored (16.7). QB Cam Ward started all 17 games as a rookie, throwing for 3,169 yards with 15 TDs and 7 INTs. He was sacked a league-high 55 times (tied with Smith). The ground game was just as bad, ranking 30th in the league with 1,948 yards rushing. Veteran RB Tony Pollard led the way with 1,082 yards and 5 TDs.
Former Jets coach Robert Saleh is the new coach in charge of turning the Titans' fortunes around, replacing Brian Callahan, who was fired after a 1-5 start to the 2025 season. Saleh was 20-36 in just over 3 seasons as the Jets coach and was fired after a 2-3 start in 2024. He served as the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator last season. Saleh brought in former New York Giants coach Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator. WR Wan'Dale Robinson, who played under Daboll in New York, was the only major offensive addition in free agency, with the team mostly focusing on defensive additions. Robinson had 92 catches for a career-high 1,014 yards and 4 TDs last season. The Titans also selected WR Carnell Tate (Ohio State) with the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Jets at Titans picks and predictions
Prediction
Titans 16, Jets 14
Moneyline
BET TITANS (-120).
I'm taking the Titans, but I don't really like it. If the game were in New York, I'd roll with the Jets. There is some talent at the skill positions for the Jets, but I don't think Smith is the answer at QB. If he goes down rookie fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik is the backup.
While the preseason returns didn't look great, I'm interested in seeing how Ward performs in Daboll's offense. He'll need better protection than he received last season, but there's enough talent around him to make the Titans at least respectable on offense.
Against the spread
PASS.
No matter which direction you lean, the moneyline is the better bet.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 38.5 (-108).
If there's any matchup capable of going Under this total -- the lowest on the board in Week 1 -- it's this one. Both teams focused on shoring up the defenses more than their anemic offenses this offseason and I think that will show out in the opener.
BEST PROP BET
WAN'DALE ROBINSON - HOME TEAM MOST RECEIVING YARDS (+175 HARD ROCK BET)
The Titans have a trio of talented wideouts, but with his experience working with Daboll, I expect Robinson to play a pivotal role in the offense. According to reports, Robinson was a favorite target of Ward's throughout training camp and the preseason.
