The Minnesota Vikings (6-0) and Detroit Lions (4-2) meet Sunday in Detroit, Michigan, for a Week 8 NFC North battle. Kickoff from Ford Field is at 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Let's analyze NFL odds around the Vikings vs. Lions odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
The Vikings kept their unbeaten season rolling with a 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7. Minnesota failed to cover as a 6.5-point home favorite, while the game finished Under (41.5) cashing. QB Kyler Murray threw for 150 yards and a touchdown, connecting 4 times with TE T.J. Hockenson for 35 yards and the score.
The Lions picked up their second straight victory in Week 7, edging the Green Bay Packers 20-17. Detroit failed to cover as a 3.5-point
home favorite, while the game finished Under the 55.5-point total. RB Jahmyr Gibbs was held out of the end zone for the first time this season but still piled up 143 total yards on 34 touches. QB Jared Goff threw for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to WR Jameson Williams.
The Vikings had Detroit's number last season, winning and covering both meetings with the Lions. Minnesota pulled off a 27-24 road upset Nov. 2, 2025, as a 9.5-point underdog, with the game finishing Over (47.5). The Vikings followed with a 23-10 Christmas Day victory as 7.5-point home underdogs, with that matchup finishing Under (45.5).

Prediction
Lions 17, Vikings 14
Moneyline
PASS.
If you feel good about the Vikings (+150) remaining undefeated, take the moneyline. These odds are tempting but I think Detroit sneaks out with a win. I'll take Minnesota getting the points, personally.
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: Best prop bets
Against the spread
BET VIKINGS +3.5 (-118).
Minnesota enters Week 8 undefeated at 6-0, thanks largely to the NFL's top-ranked scoring defense. The Vikings allow just 12.3 points per game under defensive coordinator Brian Flores and lead the league with a plus-7 turnover differential. Minnesota has forced 11 turnovers while committing just 4, giving its offense additional opportunities. That aggressive defense could create problems for Detroit, especially in a divisional matchup.
The Lions have struggled defensively, allowing 27.5 points per game, ranking 26th in the NFL. Minnesota also swept both meetings with Detroit last season, winning each game as an underdog.
The Vikings have been particularly effective in divisional road games, going 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10. With its defense playing at an elite level, Minnesota will take this game down to the wire Sunday.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 44.5 (-108).
Detroit averages 30.7 points per game, but Minnesota's defense is the best they've faced this season. Flores' blitz-heavy scheme could disrupt Goff and limit big plays. The Vikings haven't allowed an opponent to reach its projected team total this season, while their own offense has struggled to produce explosive performances. Detroit's recent 20-17 win over Green Bay suggests another physical, low-scoring divisional battle could be coming.
Best prop bet
DETROIT LIONS UNDER TEAM TOTAL 20.5 POINTS (+180).
Minnesota hasn't allowed more than 16 points in a game since opening weekend, and its relentless pressure could make things difficult for Goff and company. The Vikings generate pressure on 47.6% of opposing dropbacks, forcing quarterbacks into hurried decisions. Minnesota also held the Lions to 34 combined points across 2 meetings last season. With the Vikings consistently limiting touchdowns, Detroit could struggle to finish drives Sunday.
