Giants at Pirates picks and predictions
Prediction
Giants 4, Pirates 3
Moneyline
The GIANTS (+138) are worth a look as road underdogs in the series opener.
Skenes hasn't pitched consistently this season, and Webb has nearly identical overall numbers. Back San Francisco, which is a better value on the road at plus-money.
Run line/Against the spread
The GIANTS +1.5 (-178) are a little pricey if you're on the conservative side, and you need a little insurance against Skenes. Again, he hasn't been nearly as automatic as we saw in his first 2 MLB seasons, and the first 2 months of this season. Skenes has been very medicore, making San Francisco a tremendous value.
Over/Under
UNDER 7.5 (-122) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at best.
Remember, the total has gone low in 10 of the past 11 games for the Bucs, and the Under is 4-0 in the past 4 outings with Skenes on the bump. The offense dries up when the star pitcher is on the hill, and Pittsburgh has posted 7 total runs of support in the 4-game span, or just 1.8 RPG.
Be careful, though, as the Over is 3-0 in Webb's past 3 outings, and the offense has posted 6+ runs in 5 of the past 6 contests.
