will be playing its second straight Big 12 opponent to the start the season after opening with a 33-20 loss at the Houston Cougars last Saturday. QB Braden Atkinson finished 29 of 48 for 376 yards and a TD to WR Jesse Legree, who caught 5 passes for 136 yards. Though Atkinson and RB AJ Newberry also ran for TDs, the ground game was stymied overall, rushing for just 26 yards. Houston had its way with the Beavers defense both through the air and on the ground, throwing for 305 yards and at TD and rushing for 228 yards and 3 TDs.
This will be the third meeting between the schools with Texas Tech winning 15-14 in 1959 and 45-14 in 2025, both in Lubbock, Texas.

While last week's result doesn't exactly instill confidence, I believe Texas Tech will roll, just like they did in last season's 45-14 victory in Lubbock, Texas.
In last year's victory, Texas Tech led 45-0 before Oregon State scored a couple late TDs. The Texas Tech starting QB at the time, Behren Morton, torched the Beavers for 464 yards and 4 TDs through the air, while the ground game accounted for 121 yards and 2 TDs. Oregon State was held to 289 total yards, including just 8 yards rushing.
Over/Under
BET OVER 53.5 (-112).
Texas Tech will be angling for a big win after last week's modest start against Abilene Christian. Texas Tech moved the ball effectively against ACU, but struggled in the red zone, being held to 4 field goals throughout the second and third quarters after scoring 2 first quarter TDs.
The total opened at 49.5 at some books but has swelled anywhere from 53.5 to 54.5 later in the week. I still like the Over at 53.5, but if you can find it lower, grab it.
