What is the story about?

One former New Orleans Saints tight end has landed with a new team. We're still waiting to learn if Taysom Hill is going to join a new squad in 2026, but Jack Stoll has found an opportunity with the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo

. Stoll played for Kellen Moore on the Philadelphia Eagles and followed his coach to New Orleans to help install the playbook and compete in a new situation.

Stoll appeared in 15 games with the Saints last year, working as a blocker on 160 of his 210 snaps on offense. He also caught six passes for 46 yards and an early-season touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks. While he left in free agency this spring for an extended tryout with the Cleveland Browns, Stoll was recently let go.

Now he's on to San Francisco.

Could he have been an option for the Saints? Probably not. New Orleans invested a lot of resources at tight end this offseason by signing Noah Fant (who caught a touchdown pass in the season opener) in free agency and picking Oscar Delp in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. They recently promoted Treyton Welch from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and still have another former Eagles tight end with experience in Moore's offense, Stone Smartt, waiting in the wings.
