The New Orleans Saints college scouting department was spread far and wide in Week 6, scouting multiple first-round prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft. We may not know for certain who assistant GM Jeff Ireland assigned each scout to key in on, but there are a lot of talented college players looking to turn pro, and his inbox should start filling up with reports very soon. Here are the games the Saints were spotted attending over the weekend:
Florida Gators vs. South Carolina Gamecocks
The Saints were one of 13 teams represented at the Swamp, per Zach Goodall for 247 Sports, where they got a good look at a South Carolina team eager for an upset. Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Edge rusher Dylan Stewart, a top-10 prospect if not for a recent suspension
due to breaking team rules, returned to action and was credited with a sack and a tackle for loss. Gators running back Jadan Baugh was limited to just 70 yards from scrimmage but he still found the end zone late in regulation.
Kentucky Wildcats vs. LSU Tigers
A crowd of 14 teams, including the Saints, made the trip to Lexington per Kentucky.com's Mark Story. This isn't the first time they've gone out of their way to scout Kentucky in person. Left tackle Lance Heard is making some noise as a first-round prospect and paving the way for 155 rushing yards (with three touchdown runs) will only help his stock fly higher. Defensive tackle Tavion Gadson helped stifle the LSU run game (2.6 yards per carry on 36 attempts) as a top-100 prospect.
Oregon Ducks vs. UCLA Bruins
It's been a week of upsets, with the Bruins taking advantage of Dante Moore's absence to upset the Ducks on their home field. The Saints were one of 19 teams in attendance per Bri Amaranthus for Oregon Ducks OnSI. Even so, most of the attention went to the Oregon defense. Nose tackle A'Mauri Washington batted down two passes and split a sack while making five tackles. His teammates, edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei and safety Koi Perich, had two sacks and led the defense in tackles (11) with a fumble recovery, respectively. UCLA's top prospect Sahir West, an edge rusher, had five tackles and one for a loss of yards.
