Eight receivers may have not been enough for the New Orleans Saints. Per the daily NFL transactions wire, the team flew in four wideouts for a group workout on Tuesday -- and they ended up signing Kyrese Rowan to their practice squad, per NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill. Here's the scoop on each tryout player (including Rowan):
- Tru Edwards, 25, is a 6-foot-3 native of Shreveport, La. who played college football at Navarro CC (Texas), Hawaii, and Louisiana Tech. He signed with the Los Angeles Rams as a rookie free agent in 2025, spent the season on their practice squad, and was let go during 2026 roster cuts this August.
- Courtney Jackson, 25, is listed at 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds. The Pittsburgh-born wideout played at Syracuse and Arkansas State before turning pro; he initially landed with the Denver Broncos before joining the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in time for their Super Bowl run. He spent the offseason with the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.
- Cam Ross, 25, weighs in at 5-foot-10 and 186 pounds. He went to St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. before competing at the college level for UConn, James Madison, and Virginia. He also signed with the Broncos as a rookie free agent this offseason but was waived during roster cuts.
- Kyrese Rowan, 25, also measures 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds. He played college football for both of his home state's teams (Utah and, most prominently, Utah State) before going pro. He's had two stops with the Broncos and briefly joined the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the spring. His most productive season at the college level came in 2024 when he caught 44 passes for 526 yards and three touchdowns, also rushing for 4 yards and a score. He caught a touchdown pass against New Orleans late in last summer's preseason game, too.

What remains to be seen is how Rowan's addition changes the depth chart. The Saints still have Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown on the 53-man roster. Jordyn Tyson remains on injured reserve with Mason Tipton on the physically unable to perform list for at least
the first four games, and Brock Rechsteiner is suspended the first six weeks. For now the practice squad includes Rowan, Cedric Tillman, Trey Palmer, Jalen Moreno-Cropper, and Kevin Austin Jr. With 17 players already maxing out the practice squad limit, don't be shocked if another receiver is let go to make room for Rowan. Even with one or two practice squad wideouts being promoted for Week 1, nine receivers (and three more biding their time) is a lot.
