There we go -- ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms on a new contract extension with wide receiver Chris Olave.
Valued at up to $132 million over four years with $90 million in guarantees, it's a big deal for the team's former first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, who earned his first recognition on the Associated Press All-Pro second team last season. Olave broke out in a big way once rookie quarterback Tyler Shough took over, ending the year with career-highs in receptions (100), receiving yards (100), and touchdown catches (9). That's after Olave missed half of the 2024 season due to a series of scary concussions. He was held out of the 2025 regular season finale as a precaution
after a blood clot was detected in his lung, but underwent treatment during the offseason and is expected to play without limitations in 2026.
So what's next for Olave? With those health concerns behind him and a big bag put on the table in front of him, he's going to take point in the Saints' new-look offense as Shough's WR1. New Orleans added veteran free agents like left guard David Edwards and running back Travis Etienne Jr. before drafting first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and third-round tight end Oscar Delp to take some pressure off Shough and Olave. With other experienced hands returning from injury (think wideouts Devaughn Vele and Ja'Lynn Polk), this could be the best supporting cast Olave has been a part of in New Orleans. The Saints are paying him to take advantage of it.
